It recently became known that Blizzard Entertainment's lawyers have shut down yet another unofficial server. This time, the Mafwow project was targeted.

A message appeared from the Mafwow developer — he thanked the fans for their support and said goodbye:

I have some very sad news for everyone: it has finally happened. The Mafwow server was noticed and a complaint was filed against it. I received a legal warning demanding the shutdown of the Mafwow server. As you understand, we will not take any risks, so I will comply with this demand and shut down Mafwow. This is very sad news for all the years we developed Mafwow, participated in the project, and built a great community around the server. I want to thank the entire community for their feedback, wonderful moments, and help in developing the server. Together we created amazing features! There is always a risk, and now that risk has become a reality. Well, it's been a good few years. The server will be disconnected this afternoon. Thank you all for the great time, and I hope we will see each other again somewhere!

Previously, Blizzard Entertainment shut down Stormforge, Turtle WoW, WoW Classic Everlook, and Project Epoch. Players speculate that the developers are preparing their expanded version of World of Warcraft Classic+ and are therefore actively working against unofficial servers.
