GTA VI has become a target of criticism due to its $100 Ultimate Edition, in which some cosmetic elements are only available through separate in-game locations, leading to accusations of artificially restricting content.

The community is discussing the price of the standard edition at $80 and the structure of the Ultimate Edition. Players have noted that some content is tied to special stores: Rideout Customs for visual car modifications, Sara’s Unisex Salon for hairstyles and styles for Jason and Lucia, Stock 305 for exclusive streetwear, Electric Fang Tattoo for over 50 tattoos, and One-Eyed Willie’s for off-road upgrades.

At first glance, this looks like basic customization being locked. Many have perceived this as Rockstar Games restricting familiar personalization elements behind an additional payment, which seems particularly harsh for a series that emphasizes freedom of action.

Most likely, this is about the method of delivering Ultimate Edition bonuses. Regular salons, tattoo studios, and stores will likely remain in the game, while exclusive locations will only contain additional items.

The decision has drawn criticism. Rockstar chose a format that is perceived as dividing content based on the player's wallet.
