It seems someone got a little confused with the franchise's lore.

Rockstar Games has released many new Grand Theft Auto VI screenshots and officially opened pre-orders. Players can purchase the standard edition for $80 and the premium Ultimate edition for $100.

The Ultimate edition includes many bonuses. One of them raised questions among those deeply immersed in the Grand Theft Auto franchise lore.

On the Rockstar website, the Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers are described as follows:

Male and female variants of this powerful revolver from the Vercetti family collection, styled in classic Vice City fashion: with embossed palms on the grip, ornate engraving, and a high-magnification scope.

A Kotaku journalist noticed that the "pistol from Vice City" was not actually featured in Vice City. The scoped pistol shown in the screenshot below appeared in the game GTA: Vice City Stories – it was called "Equalizer" and replaced the ".357" pistol.

The second pistol caused no questions, as it was indeed in the original GTA: Vice City. It turns out that Rockstar Games made a "lore error" with one weapon. The Kotaku journalist believes that marketers should study the lore better:

Anyway, even Rockstar knows that the scoped revolver is from Vice City Stories. The weapon's serial number is "311006", which is the release date of VCS: October 31, 2006. And yes, the number on the other revolver, which is based on the one from Vice City, refers to that game's launch on PS2. So it's clear that the people working on the game are aware of what's happening. It seems someone in the marketing department should spend more time on the GTA Wiki. Or maybe they have a real life and are happy [...]

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release in November of this year. Initially, the game will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The developers have not announced the PC version's release date.
