New Wave of Layoffs at Xbox: Compulsion Games Employees Massively Report Departures

Microsoft has initiated a new wave of layoffs at Xbox Game Studios. The Canadian studio Compulsion Games has been affected by the layoffs.

Compulsion Games, whose latest project was South of Midnight, was among the first to be affected by the Xbox layoffs. Reports of mass layoffs, impacting many developers, have begun to surface online.

Although Microsoft has not yet issued an official comment, the information is being confirmed by the employees themselves. Posts with the status "Open to Work" have started appearing on LinkedIn.

Among those who reported their departure are Sean M. and Paulette Richardson, who worked at the studio for almost six years. Shelby Dela Cruz and Bijan Stephen are also looking for new jobs, having thanked their colleagues for their collaboration.

Sean M.:

After almost six wonderful years at Compulsion Games, immense professional growth, and the release of one of the most creatively significant games in my career, I am now #OpenToWork.

Shelby Dela Cruz:

Hello everyone! After an incredible journey at Compulsion Games, I am looking for new career opportunities and would appreciate any support!

Paulette Richardson:

After five wonderful years at Compulsion Games, I am now #OpenToWork.

Bijan Stephen:

Hello everyone! After several wonderful years at Compulsion Games (Xbox Game Studios), I am looking for new career opportunities. I am incredibly grateful for this time and for everything I learned there: how to be a better colleague, how to embrace change more easily, and how to turn ideas into a finished product. This is just a part of the experience I gained. I am endlessly grateful to the people I worked with. They taught me a lot about what it takes to create a truly beautiful game.
