Earlier this month, Sony announced a new promotion. PlayStation console owners will have the opportunity to play multiplayer for free for several days:
From July 3rd to 5th, you're in for a free multiplayer weekend in honor of the Esports World Cup. Play co-op adventures or competitive games even without a PlayStation Plus subscription and watch all the events of the Esports World Cup 2026, which will take place from July 6th to August 23rd in Paris.
A special promo page is available on the PlayStation website, which provides information about the events. For example, Sony reminded about the "PlayStation Tournaments" for the basketball simulator NBA 2K26, as well as the football sim EA SPORTS FC.
The company also noted that players can compete in popular fighting games, such as Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1, Guilty Gear Strive, and other sports games, including EA Sports Madden NFL 26, TopSpin 2k25, and MLB The Show 26.
Earlier, Sony revealed the July PlayStation Plus game lineup. The giveaway is expected to start on July 7th, meaning gamers will no longer be able to take advantage of the free multiplayer promotion to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
