The creators of the Under a Killing Moon remake have successfully completed their Kickstarter campaign. Instead of the planned 44,000 euros, the project raised over 370,000, which allowed almost all additional goals to be funded.
The remake is being developed by a team that includes the original creators. Aaron Conners, the screenwriter, Chris Jones, the actor who played Detective Tex Murphy, and Douglas Vandegrift, the artist of the original 1994 game, are involved in the development.
The game is being created from scratch on Unreal Engine 5. The developers promise 3D locations, updated controls, and restored FMV cutscenes. The original video materials will be restored and presented in Full HD and 2K resolution.
The remake will feature new mini-games, additional collectibles, dynamic weather, and other innovations, while preserving the atmosphere of the original.
The release is planned for PC. The game will be available on Steam and GOG, and a limited Big Box edition with a color manual, poster, postcards, and a Blu-ray disc will be prepared for collectors.
