11 bit studios showcased a gameplay trailer for the Last Variable expansion for The Alters. The DLC will be released on July 13, 2026, and the story content is designed for approximately 20 hours of gameplay.
The story once again centers on Jan, a scientist who, after many years on an alien planet, tries to uncover the mystery of the Oasis. Realizing that he cannot cope alone, he creates alternative versions of himself, specializing in different sciences: geology, biology, chemistry, and physics.
The expansion will add new mechanics. Players will have to terraform new areas of the planet, extract exotic resources, develop technologies, and build field laboratories. As progress increases, so does the level of danger – stronger earthquakes, radiation waves, and other threats appear.
The studio will add new base modules, including a cryo-chamber to increase survival time, additional research branches, and decisions that affect the fate of the characters.
The Alters is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
