Battlefield 6 players experienced a sharp shift in emotions after the release of a new update that concluded the third season of online play.

Along with shooting fixes, users received an in-game message stating that XP boosters would now only be consumed during a match, not in real-time. This would mean that the timer would no longer decrease in menus, when searching for a game, or when the player was absent. The news quickly spread through the community and generated a wave of positive feedback.

The joy was short-lived. The studio soon released a statement on social media, announcing that the message was sent in error. It has already been removed, and the principle of how XP boosters work will remain the same.

As a result, the change never appeared in Battlefield 6. Many players perceived the incident as an extremely unfortunate mistake on EA's part and even trolling.
