Tomb Raider on Switch 2 will be without 60 fps - developers explained the decision
Aspyr studio admitted in an interview with Nintendo Everything that they considered such a possibility. According to the developers, achieving 60 fps was feasible, but it would require serious visual and technical compromises. The team spent several months trying to optimize the game and concluded that it would not provide a stable and comfortable experience.
An option with an unlocked frame rate was also tested, which led to stability issues, including drops and slowdowns in dynamic scenes. As a result, this idea was abandoned.
Players note that the decision seems controversial, considering that the game was previously released on Xbox 360 and Switch 2's performance is comparable to Xbox Series S. The developers claim that the second part of the “Survival” trilogy turned out to be too demanding on the GPU.
