Gamers continue to criticize PlayStation's decision to stop releasing new games on physical media from January 2028. Discontent is growing on social media, with some users even canceling their PS Plus subscriptions. Now, the "Don't Kill the Disc" petition has attracted attention.

The initiative started on Change.org at the suggestion of a representative from the Canadian store PnP Games. In 4 days, it gathered 115,000 signatures.

The petition's authors emphasize that a disc is not just a medium. A game can be resold, exchanged, gifted, or collected. A version with a code inside is essentially a digital license in a box. Cases of purchased movies being removed from libraries and games being pulled from sale shortly after release are also mentioned.

The organizers are not against digital distribution as a choice. The problem is the lack of an alternative and the complete abandonment of discs.

The petition also addresses the decision's impact on jobs in the industry – media manufacturing, logistics, and retail. For some companies, this will be a serious blow.
