Bayonetta Creator Names Reason for Capcom's Success and Cites Pragmata as an Example

News 1

Capcom achieves success thanks to well-known series and a willingness to create new franchises. This opinion was shared by Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry.

According to the developer, Capcom employs talented teams, but equally important is the management's approach, which regularly invests in new franchises, not focusing solely on continuing popular series.

As an example, Kamiya cited Pragmata. The game received a warm reception from critics and players – selling over 2 million copies in the first 16 days after its release. Thanks to this, Capcom is already considering developing the franchise.

However, not all of the company's new projects have been successful. Exoprimal and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess could not replicate similar results. Kamiya believes that it is precisely this willingness to take risks that helps Capcom find new major series.

Currently, Kamiya himself is once again collaborating with Capcom on Okami 2. Pragmata director Yonghee Cho previously stated that he would gladly work on a sequel if the studio were given the opportunity.
