During an interview with IGN Nordic to celebrate the studio's 30th anniversary, Criterion representatives confirmed that they are now fully focused on Electronic Arts' shooter. This is also reflected in the team's new name — Criterion: A Battlefield Studio.

Rebecca Quataz, Vice President and General Manager of Battlefield Studios, stated:

We're not here to talk about the past. We are fully focused on Battlefield.

According to her, the Battlefield series needs a clear vision and serious support, which is why several studios are working on the next games. Criterion had already assisted in the creation of Battlefield 1, and after the release of Battlefield V, became a permanent participant in the series' development.

The last racing game in Criterion's history was Need for Speed Unbound, released in 2022.
