Unknown Worlds Entertainment studio released update 1.1 for Subnautica 2 in July. It improves the technical state of the game, fixes some bugs, and more.
For example, players can now stun some marine creatures:
Most creatures now have a short stun after being hit by a sonic resonator — they now only respond to attacks for defense for a limited time.
In addition, for most creatures, “adequate behavior” has been added when fleeing after an attack with a multitool — they now only respond to attacks for defense for a limited time.
Gameplay related to exploring wreckage has been improved — additional puzzles with obstacles and oxygen have appeared.
Some other changes and improvements:
- You can now accelerate not only in water, but also on land and at the base.
- The biomodification system has been adjusted at the beginning of the game — players now have more opportunities to study and use it.
- Two biolabs have been added: one in the Coral Gardens, the other in the Axum ruins.
- The number of biomodifications that can be unlocked in biolabs scattered across the ocean has been increased from four to six.
- Unlock icons have been added, which display recently unlocked items in the biolab.
- The creature study and naming system has been fixed to match the previous game in the series.
- Player animation on land in third-person mode has been fixed.
- Eye movements and blinking have been added to players.
- Voice messages are no longer played automatically; a notification appears when unlocked, and messages can be played at any time via the PDA.
- A new graphic object has been created for the storage container, which is also used for game elements unlocked earlier.
- The World Tree artifact has been added — a new decoration that was shown in the trailer.
- Fixed an issue where the game could crash after exiting the main menu.
- Fixed an issue with unnatural particles appearing, which degraded performance, when cutting macaroni sponge and destroying gorgon jailer.
- Improved performance when playing character animations.
- Fixed an issue where it was impossible to unpin biomodification recipes after unlocking them.
- Fixed incorrect operation of the “Camouflage” biomodification when the player was stationary on the water surface or attached to a “tadpole”.
