In July, players were reminded of the inFamous franchise again. The reason was an announcement from Sony PlayStation, but not for a new game – the company warned of the imminent discontinuation of online service support due to “technical issues”:
[...] user-generated content (UGC) support for inFamous 2 on PlayStation 3 will be discontinued as of August 31, 2026. After this date, players will no longer be able to access, view, upload, download, or launch user-created missions via the inFamous 2 online servers.
Offline features of inFamous 2, including the main campaign, will still be available. However, players will no longer be able to earn “platinum” (the achievement for collecting all others).
The fact is that some achievements are linked to online content:
- Level Up / New Level – Create a new mission using the level editor.
- UGC Curious / Curious – Complete 10 user-created missions.
- UGC Veteran / Veteran – Complete 25 user-created missions.
- Trail Blazer / Innovator – Complete 5 user-created missions selected using the “Newest” filter.
Players still have 52 days to earn the listed achievements in inFamous 2.
