8 years have passed since Project Awakening was presented for PS4, and many players thought the project had been quietly canceled. Cygames officially confirmed that work on the open-world game is proceeding as planned.
Project Awakening was announced in 2016 and gained prominence after its presentation at the PlayStation LineUp Tour 2018. The trailer featuring a warrior battling a giant monster impressed with its graphics and made the project one of the most anticipated for PS4. After that, almost nothing was reported about it.
Cygames President Koichi Watanabe stated in an interview with Famitsu that the team is working on the game every day and gradually integrating all elements into a cohesive whole.
The developers note that the overall concept has not changed. The game has received new mechanics and solutions. It is still a story-driven open-world action-RPG.
Famitsu journalists saw new materials for the game, although they have not yet been publicly shown. Perhaps Cygames is preparing to reintroduce Project Awakening to a wider audience, for example, at Tokyo Game Show.
