id Software presented new material dedicated to the DOOM: The Dark Ages – Revelations expansion. In the video, director Hugo Martin spoke about the plot, new mechanics, and changes that will take gameplay to the next level.
The team has high hopes for the DLC. He stated that Revelations is the culmination of more than 30 years of DOOM series development and is “the best expansion id Software has ever created.”
The core of the expansion is the combination of the heavier and more tactical combat system from DOOM: The Dark Ages with the mobility and speed of DOOM Eternal. The developers spent over a year refining their approach, focusing on demanding action game enthusiasts.
The main new feature will be a spear with an upgrade system and special abilities. It will allow players to fight different enemies in different ways. Players who master all its capabilities will unlock the weapon's full potential.
The expansion has increased difficulty, which will require better reactions and knowledge of mechanics. The release is scheduled for July 15, 2026.
