The release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was not as successful as Ubisoft had hoped. Within hours of its launch on Steam, the game's ratings plummeted to "mostly negative".
The main reason for the dissatisfaction was the numerous paid add-ons. The in-game store featured microtransactions totaling over $80/€. For real money, players can buy ship cosmetics, new hero outfits, and maps that help find hidden treasures.
Players were particularly outraged that most of this content was available in the original 2013 version of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Now it is being sold again.
Fans consider it unfair that Resynced is sold at full price, and additional materials were not even included in the expensive Deluxe edition.
On PC, technical issues exacerbate the situation. Players complain about cutscenes being limited to just 30 frames per second, while the main gameplay runs at 60 FPS, making transitions between scenes look unnatural.
The Steam rating, at the time of publication, has slightly leveled out to 66% positive reviews.
