Recently, a developer under the nickname rosa.digital shared how he originally proposed to his girlfriend. For this, he created a full-fledged Game Boy game on a cartridge:
I've always loved physical versions of games — cartridges, boxes, manuals. And I've always wanted to create my own game. However, my first game wasn't really for me — this game was for her. It's called "Only Her: Trapped in 8-Bit."
The idea behind the project Only Her: Trapped in 8-Bit was to guide the girlfriend through significant moments of her life and their relationship: a declaration of love, the first kiss, etc.
In the finale, hints for actions to be performed in the real world begin to appear — the girlfriend had to remove the cartridge cover, where the developer had hidden the engagement ring:
In this game, she plays herself, goes through the story of her own life, and at the end, the game prompts her to unscrew the cartridge cover. Inside was an engagement ring. I wanted to create something that wouldn't just remain a memory on a phone. Something she could turn on again in 10, 30, or 50 years and remember that moment. A game played only by my wife. A small game. A big deal.
