Steam completed the best first half in its history. According to the Alinea Analytics report, game sales on Valve's platform generated $11.1 billion in gross revenue in the first six months of 2026.
This is 14.5% more than in the same period of 2025. The figure was 8% higher than in the second half of last year, despite traditionally high sales during holiday sales.
According to analysts, Steam's annual revenue grew from approximately $5.5 billion in 2017 to almost $20 billion in 2025. In the first six months of 2026, the platform earned more than in the entire pandemic year of 2020.
Analysts also noted a change in sales structure. In the first half of 2026, games released in the same year accounted for 21% of all revenue, compared to 29% two years earlier. Older projects are bringing in an increasing share of revenue.
Among the most successful releases of 2026 on Steam, analysts highlighted Forza Horizon 6, Resident Evil Requiem, and Crimson Desert.
