
id Software has started developing a new DOOM - Media
In July, the story expansion Revelations was released for the shooter DOOM: The Dark Ages, and it became known about layoffs at id Software. According to available data, over 100 specialists lost their jobs.
After this, players online began discussing the studio's potential future. Some expressed the opinion that the developers could return to the Quake franchise. However, according to The Verge journalist Tom Warren's data,
Although the layoffs at id Software were significant, as I understand it, these changes did not turn the studio into an "auxiliary" one. Instead, a new DOOM game is currently in the early stages of development.
Earlier, media reported that before the layoffs, id Software tried to propose a number of new projects, including an original game called Fury in the style of the "John Wick" franchise, a new Perfect Dark, and a cooperative DOOM.
The DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations expansion on PC in Steam received "very positive" reviews – an 87% rating. At the start of the DLC, the game's online presence significantly increased and almost reached 14 thousand players (the absolute record was set at the shooter's release – 31,470 users).
