Developer accuses Valve of "shadow banning" his game on Steam

News 1

Developer Robert Yang criticized Valve for not trying to understand the context and intent of his games, relying instead on a rigid and opaque content labeling system.

The main complaint was the recent reclassification of Radiator 2. According to Yang, the game was categorized as having frequent nudity or sexual content. Such projects are hidden by default on Steam, which, according to the developer, sharply reduces their visibility. He calls this a kind of "shadow ban": the game is still sold in the store, but for a significant portion of users, it effectively becomes invisible. Yang emphasizes that he deliberately avoided explicit scenes and overt nudity.

The developer also criticized the moderation process. According to him, authors receive minimal explanations for such decisions and can practically not dispute them. Yang believes that Valve "is not interested in conversation" and is not ready to admit that it can be wrong in matters of content evaluation.
