League of Legends release date announced - Riot Games reveals first details
In July, during the finals of the Mid-Season Invitational 2026 esports event, Riot Games shared additional information about League of Legends Classic. The developers revealed the release date and some details of the mode, which will allow players to dive into the past of the MOBA game.
The mode will recreate the third season of League of Legends. Players will be offered to play on the classic version of Summoner's Rift again. At launch, 60 champions (heroes) will be available, and the list is planned to be expanded later, for example, Caitlyn and Irelia will be introduced. The original interface, classic mastery trees, and the old rune system will also be available.
You don't need to create a separate account to play League of Legends Classic. This mode will have its own progression system and will be developed based on community feedback.
League of Legends Classic is scheduled for release on July 29 (6:00 PM Moscow time) along with update 26.15. Riot Games has opened a special promo page for this mode, which is available at the following link.
