The Elder Scrolls Online will continue to receive content despite Xbox layoffs

News 0

ZeniMax Online Studios was indeed affected by the wave of layoffs at Xbox, but its team is still capable of creating new content for the popular MMO.

ESO remains an important part of Xbox's strategy. Recent layoffs affected ZeniMax Online and Bethesda – new data helps to understand the true scale of the changes.

Representatives of Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages attended the annual Elder Scrolls Tavern event in Europe, where ZeniMax employees spoke about the studio's condition. According to them, the team size is now the same as during the development of the Wrothgar update and the major Summerset expansion.

Good news: UESP members who spoke with ZOS about the future of the studio and Elder Scrolls Online reported positive things. According to Jason Barnes (Associate Design Director) and Jessica Folsom (Associate Community Manager), the team is currently the same size as when it created Wrothgar and Summerset.
While layoffs are extremely upsetting for everyone involved (including players), this doesn't necessarily mean the end of new content or the game transitioning into maintenance mode.

The team is currently reviewing the schedule for future ESO updates.
