Layoff was a blessing in disguise - the author of the Out Of Hell horror mod remake plunged into development

Some people combine video game development with their main job. They have to adapt their schedule, but they get a stable income. However, no one is immune to sudden layoffs; this is what happened to the author of the Out Of Hell remake, who lost his job.

Long Nguyen is a solo developer who created the original Out Of Hell horror mod. In one of his blogs, he talked about his layoff — now he can fully immerse himself in working on the remake:

Now I will have more free time, as I was recently laid off from my job where I worked for over three years. But there's a silver lining: now I can really focus on Out Of Hell! I wake up, do my morning routine, and immediately get to work on the game.

According to Nguyen, after work and household chores, he had very little time left for development. He would just "get into the flow" and at that moment it was already time to go to bed:

[...after all the chores] I only had a few hours left to work on the game. And, as many creative people know, sometimes it takes time to get back into the flow, but as soon as I did — it was already time to go to bed because of that nine-to-five job!

In Out Of Hell, players take on the role of a police officer surviving in a city overrun by demons. You can add the remake to your Steam wishlist by following this link. The developer has not yet specified a specific release date or window for his project.
