Will CDPR abandon cards with Geralt's lovers? The Witcher Remake aims for more mature relationships

Former lead game writer Artur Ganszyniec spoke about the creation of the collectible card system featuring Geralt's lovers from The Witcher 2007.

According to the developer, he is not ashamed of the idea, admitting that years later it doesn't look like the best solution. The appearance of the cards was due to the budget and technological limitations of CD Projekt Red at the time. The team understood that romance and eroticism were important to Andrzej Sapkowski's world, but they couldn't create complex 3D scenes.

As a result, intimate moments were replaced by two-dimensional images that players collected as trophies.

The Witcher 2007 had many technical simplifications, but at the time, players accepted this convention. However, Ganszyniec admitted that some dialogues for obtaining cards seemed artificial.

It is likely that The Witcher Remake will abandon the cards. Modern technologies will allow for a more detailed and natural portrayal of the relationships between Geralt, Triss, Shani, and other characters.
