Dying Light: The Beast Developers Started Refunding Money - They Refused to Release the Game on PS4 and Xbox One

Dying Light: The Beast was released last year only on PC and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. However, Techland also announced plans for a release on last-generation consoles.

This summer, the developers announced that plans had changed – a decision was made to cancel the Dying Light: The Beast ports.

Techland explained that the new game was created with the capabilities of current-generation consoles in mind, which outdated PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cannot provide. During the work on the ports, the developers realized that they would have to sacrifice important elements of the game to run it on old hardware:

Its open world, advanced graphics, as well as fluid combat system and movement directly depend on the computing power and memory capacity that previous-generation consoles simply do not have. As development progressed, it became clear that releasing the game on these platforms would require compromises that would not allow us to achieve the level of quality we intended. This was not a decision to “leave these platforms behind” – it’s about technical limitations and our desire to provide the best gaming experience.

The developers of Dying Light: The Beast understand that some gamers were counting on playing on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. They stated that everyone who planned to play on these platforms would be able to get a refund.
