"We won't get away with a stock answer": Ubisoft responds in Russian to criticism of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced

News 2

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced was recently released on consoles and PC via Steam, where players can leave detailed text reviews. One of these reviews attracted particular attention from Russian-speaking users, as Ubisoft responded to it.

A player under the nickname ahronon left a negative review of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, criticizing some of the developers' creative decisions. For example, he found the combat "worse than the original," and also criticized the interface and other aspects of the remake:

The remake is definitely cool in terms of visuals, location detail, more adequate content, and new missions. But for all the magnificent moments, there are nuances that make you [sick]: the remake, alas, is made on the assets of the RPG parts. Accordingly, all the problems of these "masterpieces" (f***ing and lazy interface, f***ing [bad] visual effects, crooked animations in combat, robotic gestures of characters, pathetic facial animations in new cutscenes, including problems with lighting, shadows, and saturation of models) have been transferred here [...] Potentially, this could have been a 10/10 game, but alas, Black Flag (and the entire series) was unlucky to be in the hands of modern Ubisoft, where incompetent f***ers work. We got a decent, but extremely lazy remake, which will appeal to ardent fans of pirate themes, people who have not played the original, or newfangled players who love Valhalla/Odyssey/Shadows. There's nothing for everyone else here, except perhaps to turn off your brain and play while watching videos in the background, simultaneously taking beautiful screenshots for your collection.

Ubisoft responded to this review – also in Russian. The developer (or their representative) stated that ahronon's opinion was taken into account and such an analysis "will not go unnoticed":

We won't get away with a stock answer – this review was clearly written by someone who knows the game inside and out. The comments about mocap continuity, hidden blade combat, and fort capture rework – all of this has been noted and taken into account. We made decisions in this remake that not everyone will agree with, and that's fair. But one thing we can promise for sure: such detailed critical analyses as yours do not go unnoticed.

Ubisoft also responds to many other reviews, including those concerning the game's monetization – the total cost of add-ons exceeded the price of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced itself.
