Early Version of RTX Remaster of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with Improved Materials Released

News 0

Last year, Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos unveiled The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Some fans of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind would like to see a similar project. However, for now, only the fan-made Skywind remake based on the TES V: Skyrim engine is in development, and various enthusiasts are offering their own versions of remasters.

In July, a modder known as Naeluk58 introduced an RTX remaster of TES III: Morrowind. It replaces textures with PBR versions (with physically accurate rendering) and upscales "vanilla" (original) textures via RTX Remix.

The "PBR vanilla RTX Remix Morrowind" modification by Naeluk58 is distributed for free via Nexus Mods. The current version of the project does not work with the popular "OpenMW" version of the game.

There are also technical issues: the game may freeze; water, fog, and the horizon look "a bit strange," and the screen may flicker. This is an early version of the project, and the enthusiast intends to refine it.

Naeluk58 is currently looking for other modders who could help him adapt the project for other versions of Morrowind and implement virtual reality support.
