Recently, Xbox had another round of layoffs, which also affected Obsidian Entertainment. Fallout: New Vegas screenwriter Chris Avellone has not worked at the studio for a long time, but he still has contacts. He decided to count how many real veteran developers are left on the team.
To do this, the screenwriter analyzed the list of employees and checked their status – whether they are still working at the studio or not. Avellone concluded that out of 73 developers, only 16 are still working at Obsidian. Currently, 2 out of 3 authors of the original Fallout are still with the studio – Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky.
Chris Avellone clarified that he was not able to check everyone, and he did not count administrative staff and some Bethesda employees who helped with the script:
