NVIDIA concealed the readings of the hotspot sensor, the hottest point of the graphics processor, in the RTX 50 series graphics cards. Developers have already found a way to bypass the official driver restriction.
The HWMonitor program became the first PC monitoring tool to once again display the hotspot temperature on RTX 50 graphics cards.
For example, the GeForce RTX 5090 Founder's Edition has a hotspot temperature of 86–88 °C under full load. Users on Reddit report similar results, indicating that the RTX 50 series does not differ from the RTX 40 in this regard.
This is precisely why the hotspot sensor is needed: if the temperature of the hottest point of the GPU approaches 100 °C under maximum load, it is worth checking the video card's cooling system.
