Assassin's Creed Creator Reveals New Details on 1666: Amsterdam

Patrice Désilets, the creator of the Assassin's Creed series, who left Ubisoft in 2010, is finalizing work on his new project 1666: Amsterdam.

Panache Digital Games studio released a video in which key developers discussed the creation of the game's visual style. Special attention was paid to lighting, which proved to be a challenging task due to the open game world.

The creators also talked about recreating 17th-century Amsterdam architecture. The developers aim to accurately convey the buildings of that era, and the game itself is intended to be a kind of love letter to the city and its history.

Nicolas Cantin, the project's art director, stated:

Even if you don't have the opportunity to visit Amsterdam, I hope the game will give you the feeling that you are truly walking its streets.

The release date for 1666: Amsterdam has not yet been announced. It is expected that the game will be released in early access on PC this year, with console versions appearing after the 1.0 release. A demo is currently available on Steam.
