Recently, gamers once again remembered Arion Kurtaj. This hacker became famous several years ago for being able to hack Rockstar Games and leak a lot of material related to Grand Theft Auto VI online.
It became known that he was released from a secure hospital where he was placed in 2023. However, he is not free: the hacker was placed in prison, where he will await a retrial.
A British court recognized Arion Kurtaj as a member of the Lapsus$ hacker group, which carried out attacks on a number of companies — among their victims were not only Rockstar Games, but also Uber, NVIDIA, and BT. A psychiatric examination revealed that the hacker had "acute autism" (i.e., a severe form).
At the time, experts noted that he was "highly motivated" and expressed an intention to "return to cybercrime as soon as possible" (while in custody).
It so happened that the new trial is scheduled for November 2026 — in this month, Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on consoles. The nature of the new charges has not yet been disclosed.
