BlackFoot Studios and publisher MicroProse Software released the full version of the tactical shooter Ground Branch on PC via Steam in July. The project started in "early access" in the summer of 2018.
Development was led by Jone Sonedecker, who previously participated in the development of classic installments of the Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon franchise, as well as Rainbow Six.
In Ground Branch, players take on the role of operatives conducting secret operations in various parts of the world. The developers stated that they implemented a "unique Real First-Person View System" which operates on the principle of "what the player sees is what happens to the character."
For example, if a soldier's leg is sticking out from behind cover, it means that the enemy can also see it: "However, they will only be able to shoot and hit if there are no obstacles in their line of sight and fire — because the camera looks 'from the eyes' of the characters, and bullets fly from the barrel."
Developers will offer players full customization of their operative, as well as the equipment used in the operation. The system will take into account the weight of items, meaning an overloaded operative will run worse and move slower.
The Ground Branch page on Steam is available at the following link. The game received "very positive" reviews, with an 87% rating after more than 23 thousand reviews. Until July 23, the project is discounted and a bundle with Dagger Directive is available — another tactical shooter featuring several campaigns and extensive operative equipment customization.
