(18+) Russian AI voice acting for Red Dead Redemption 2 announced - localizer aims to raise 1.2 million rubles for production

Games like Baldur's Gate 3, GTA V, or Red Dead Redemption 2 are very large-scale, so it's difficult to expect a full-fledged unofficial voice-over. However, with the development of AI technologies, neural localizations have begun to appear, where lines are voiced not by live actors, but by synthesized voices.

Recently, a trailer from MGVDubbing, which specializes in neural network dubbing of video games, appeared online. They announced the start of work on Russian AI voice acting for Red Dead Redemption 2: "A huge amount of work lies ahead: hundreds of thousands of lines, hundreds of characters, and tens of thousands of hours of sound processing. But the first and most difficult step has already been taken."

The localizer stated that he wants to raise 1.2 million rubles. According to him, the funds are needed to pay for generation capacities, since on his video card "generation alone, without any edits, will take months," and this amount also includes payment for the services of sound engineers for "mixing cutscenes in 5.1 audio" and labor for listening and correcting lines.

One of the viewers noted that for voicing such a large-scale game as Red Dead Redemption 2, the amount of 1.2 million "is actually even cheap." As an example, he cited the Mechanics Voiceover studio, which is raising 2.7 million rubles for live voice acting for 007 First Light.

MGVDubbing reacted to the comment and wrote: "Voices do studio voice acting, and I do neural network voice acting, so theirs is an order of magnitude more expensive. Well, people think that if it's a neural network, it's done for free and with one button."

Earlier, MGVDubbing presented Russian neural network voice acting for Batman Arkham Origins.

The localization is available not only for the main game. MGVDubbing also fully translated the Cold, Cold Heart add-on, and "more than 12,000 background lines" (prisoners, police, and other characters) were also translated.
