Modder Played GTA: Vice City on a GTA III Texture, Launched Inside GTA: San Andreas

The author of the YouTube channel DryxioGTA continues to experiment with games from the 3D universe of Grand Theft Auto. Recently, he played GTA III on a TV in GTA: San Andreas, and now he decided to dive even deeper.

This time, he used a large billboard texture as a screen for the game. First, the main character Carl "CJ" Johnson launched Grand Theft Auto III on it.

After switching to controlling Claude in GTA III, the modder drove through the introductory segment and found another suitable texture in Liberty City — a map table with a district scheme.

Here he proceeded to the second stage: he launched Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on this texture. The size of the table is smaller than the "window" with GTA III, which allows seeing both games running in GTA: San Andreas.

This is not a broadcast of a recording or a window capture overlaid. The modder explained that all three games — Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, GTA III, and GTA: Vice City are simultaneously running within a single process. In this case, Vice City is rendered into a GTA III texture, and GTA III is rendered into a San Andreas texture. Each of these layers is available for real-time play.

DryxioGTA did not specify whether he intends to go further and launch the first GTA games within 3D projects.
