The release of the new game Gears of War: E-Day is expected in October this year. Meanwhile, some players recall previous installments of the franchise, which never officially made it to PC.
For example, Gears of War 2, released in 2008 on Xbox 360, remained a console exclusive. However, recently a modder known as xHeliosx announced the release of an unofficial PC port of the shooter — no emulator will be required to run the game.
The enthusiast offers players the original story campaign. The xHeliosx build includes all base and DLC maps from Gears of War 2, the additional campaign “Road To Ruin,” and the “Horde” mode. In addition, there is an option to save progress and play cooperatively. To create this project, the modder used a previously leaked developer build.
The modder ported Gears of War 2 alone. He did not test multiplayer and PvP mode, so he apologized in advance for possible technical issues with the online component of the project.
The unofficial PC port of Gears of War 2 has already been published online and is freely available. xHeliosx distributes his project as the modification “Gears of War 2 : Hollow.”
