Reddit user mdumtshali ordered a Steam Machine worth $1300. The courier delivered the package when the buyer was at work and left the box at the door, without even handing it over to neighbors. The doorbell camera footage shows the delivery person attempting to cover the box with a random plastic bag. When the owner returned home, the package was already gone.
The gamer contacted Steam support. After investigation, it turned out that the neighbors had not taken the delivery. Reddit users advised against arguing with the courier service, as the seller is responsible for the delivery.
Soon, Valve announced that they would send the customer a new Steam Machine.
The story sparked discussion among gamers. Some believe that for such an expensive device, Valve should require a mandatory signature upon receipt or mark such packages as valuable.
