A few days after the release of the "Ain't No Hero" video, the comments section on YouTube was filled with messages from players protesting PlayStation's plans to fully transition to digital distribution by 2028.
More than 10,000 comments appeared under the video. Many users jokingly connect the topic of physical media with the trailer's plot. Players note that Wolverine's attachment to old photographs clearly demonstrates the value of real, physical things.
The discussion remains relatively calm, but finding comments about the game itself is now almost impossible — most messages are dedicated to Sony's policy.
Such a reaction is unlikely to make the company change its strategy. Digital sales are too profitable for Sony, and past attempts to boycott game releases rarely led to long-term consequences.
Nevertheless, mass protests could create problems for PlayStation's marketing: every new trailer or presentation faces a wave of criticism due to the abandonment of discs.
