Gamer who spent $360,000 on Steam account leveling bought a courier for $300,000 in Dota 2
The collector received a unique cosmetic item.
Valve games feature various virtual items. The cost of some models can be several thousand dollars, but there are also particularly valuable specimens. Recently, a major deal took place in the virtual item market of Dota 2.
A user under the nickname stasik acquired the Platinum Baby Roshan courier for 300 thousand dollars (approximately 23 million rubles). This courier appeared in Dota 2 as part of the "Diretide 2013" event and is a cosmetic item – it replaces the model of the courier used during a match to deliver items to a character.
This particular item is notable for being bugged. Standard couriers usually have fewer slots, but this Platinum Baby Roshan, thanks to a bug, received several additional ones, which allowed for more visual effects to be installed, making it truly unique.
stasik is a kind of star in the Steam collector community. Currently, he has the highest account level in the Valve service – 6022nd, while the closest competitor has the 5001st level.
Leveling up a Steam account is done by crafting badges from collectible cards. The cost of reaching the 6022nd level is estimated differently: it is assumed that at least 360 thousand dollars (about 28 million rubles) were spent on this, but there are other estimates up to a million dollars (78 million rubles). Such a discrepancy arises because card prices in the market change, and it is difficult to accurately determine at what price he purchased them.
