Recently, gamers remembered a "Simpsons" game again, but not The Simpsons: Hit & Run. In 2007, the platformer The Simpsons Game was released on the Xbox 360 console. It was also available on Sony consoles, but never made it to PC.
However, that recently changed. A modder known as YesterMester announced the release of a PC port of The Simpsons Game – it will run on computers, and players won't have to look for a separate emulator to play the game.
The tech enthusiast explained that he completely translated the Xenon PowerPC processor code into native PC code. The project is currently in an early stage, but players can already complete the platformer.
However, technical issues may arise during gameplay: unstable performance, glitchy sound, flickering interface, etc.
The modder published the project files in open access, calling it "TheSimpsonsGameRecomp" (or The Simpsons Game – Recompiled). The source code is available on GitHub in YesterMester's repository. The package does not include game assets, ISO images, etc. – the player must independently find an Xbox 360 ISO image.
This month also saw another unofficial PC port release – a modder ported the shooter Gears of War 2 using a previously leaked build of the project.
