The developer believes Rockstar won't need to revisit old ideas.

Recently, the KIWI TALKZ YouTube channel published a new podcast episode. It featured an experienced specialist who worked as a producer at Rockstar Games. Over the years, John Ricchio has worked on various projects, including games from the Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto franchises.

During the conversation, he shared memories of the creation of Grand Theft Auto IV. According to the developer, the game included "several" missions from a canceled unannounced game. This decision, in Ricchio's opinion, "was pretty cool."

But the former Rockstar producer explained that this is not always possible due to technical specifics:

There's an approach to work: 'This idea is great – let's continue to develop it.' I'm sure this 100% happens [however] when it comes to directly porting scripts or code into a new game, it all heavily depends on how much the technology has changed.

And even if developers have the opportunity to borrow ideas from past projects, they don't always do it. Ricchio explained that "in many cases, you're almost never limited by ideas – there are usually plenty. The more creative people you have, the more ideas."

It's obvious that Rockstar has plenty of creative people, so the former producer "doesn't see much need" for the creators of GTA VI to revisit old ideas.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI is expected in November of this year, currently only on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. The developers have not yet announced the release date for the PC version of the game.
