Microsoft has faced another personnel change within the Xbox team. The company has lost Jared Palmer, one of the engineering leaders for Xbox Project Helix, which is associated with the development of the next-gen console. He was appointed to the position two months ago.
In early May, Xbox head Asha Sharma appointed Palmer as Vice President of Engineering. He was to be responsible for the development of tools, services, and technologies for developers and players within the Xbox ecosystem.
Now, the specialist has announced his departure from Microsoft and his move to Cognition, a company that develops AI-based solutions. Palmer thanked Sharma and the Xbox team for their collaboration and confirmed that he will take on a leadership role in the engineering department of the new company.
Journalist Jez Corden explained the situation, stating that the resignation is not related to internal Xbox issues:
One of Xbox's VPs of Engineering (not the head of all engineering) left because an AI company with huge investor money made him a multi-million dollar offer. No reasonable person would turn that down.
Now, Asha Sharma will have to find a new specialist to work on the technologies for the future Xbox platform.
