PS5 Sales in the US Down 19%. Sony Faces a Challenging Year

PS5 sales in the US in June 2026 fell by 19% year-over-year amidst a 21% overall decline in the console market, with PlayStation maintaining its lead.

Sony is going through a difficult period. Amidst criticism from the community over decisions related to physical game releases, PS5 sales in the US have significantly declined.

According to Circana, in June 2026, PS5 revenue was 19% lower than a year ago. It is worth noting that the entire US gaming console market shrank by 21% year-over-year. This is largely due to the record launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 a year ago. Sales of the Nintendo console itself also fell – by as much as 79%.

Xbox still holds last place in terms of sales volume, but compared to the same period last year, Microsoft's figures have doubled. Despite the decline, PlayStation maintains its market leadership.

The best-selling game in the US in June was EA Sports UFC 6. Second place was unexpectedly taken by the indie game Meccha Chameleon. It is estimated that its sales reached 4 million copies in the US alone.
