Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered received a new feature that reduces performance on PlayStation 5 - update 1.09 released

In July, Guerrilla Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the release of an update for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. This is a purely technical update that does not add new content to the game.

The developers addressed the community and said that with patch 1.09, a new feature became available in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on Sony consoles:

We are releasing a small patch for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Update 1.09 adds support for an energy-saving mode on PlayStation 5 – this is a new option that, when enabled, can reduce power consumption by decreasing performance in supported games.

Players were very surprised that the creators of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered did not forget about this version of the game and continue to support it several years after its release. Against this background, discussions about rumors that Sony is preparing a new portable device intensified again.

There is an opinion that such an “energy-saving mode” is a way to “force developers to make their games with the supposed portable PS6 console,” since this mode “essentially forces the game to use only a certain number of cores/threads, as close as possible to the capabilities of a potential new console.”
