The author of the YouTube channel DryxioGTA continues to experiment with classic 3D Grand Theft Auto games. Recently, he created a "matryoshka doll" out of Rockstar Games' titles — launching one inside another and controlling events in the GTA III world from GTA: San Andreas.
Now DryxioGTA has taken everything to a new level — he installed several portals on Grove Street in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — one leads to the world of GTA: Vice City, another allows a peek into Liberty City from GTA III, and a third is connected to Las Venturas from San Andreas itself.
These are not "rectangles with overlaid video," but truly full-fledged portals. If desired, the main character Carl "CJ" Johnson can shoot into another world or escape into it — in which case, after a brief loading, the game will switch and the main character will change.
DryxioGTA showed that these portals can be spawned at any time. He clarified that GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas simultaneously run within a single process; these "portals" work in real time. The project is built on modified re3/reVC, librw, and plugin-sdk.
