Earlier, IGN, citing anonymous employees, reported growing concern within the team. According to the publication, some developers anticipate possible delays, increased workload, and greater involvement of external contractors to replace laid-off specialists. Employees also fear a decline in morale after the recent wave of layoffs.
Now Bethesda has commented on these rumors. In response to blogger MrMattyPlays, the studio stated: “The work schedule remains unchanged.” This means that, according to the company's official position, the layoffs have not affected the development plan for The Elder Scrolls VI.
At the same time, Microsoft's restructuring seriously affected Xbox studios. The company closed several teams and laid off thousands of employees at Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard. Earlier, The Elder Scrolls Online developers had already admitted that they faced staffing problems after the layoffs.
