FromSoftware has revealed new details about Elden Ring Tarnished Edition. The expanded edition of the game will add two new character classes — Heavy Knight and Knight of Idus, which will offer different playstyles.
Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will be released on August 28, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2. The updated version will not just be a port: additional content will also be released on the same day on PC and other platforms as a paid expansion.
Heavy Knight is designed for fans of heavy armor. The character starts the game at level 10, receives a powerful curved greatsword and a new set of armor. The developers slightly changed the class characteristics after testing, increasing the starting level and the Faith and Intelligence stats.
More interesting is the Knight of Idus — a fast sword-wielding warrior who could be an alternative to the popular Samurai. The class starts at level 7 and receives a new set of armor, a shield, and the light greatsword Milady from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Also, the new class will introduce players to the Idus area, which was not previously mentioned in the Elden Ring universe. As is typical for FromSoftware, details about it will likely be hidden in item and equipment descriptions.
