Rockstar Games is currently preparing for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. There are rumors circulating online that the game might eventually appear on Nintendo Switch 2, while a tech enthusiast is porting the previous installment of the franchise to the first Switch.
A modder known as M0jso has published a gameplay example of Grand Theft Auto V on Nintendo Switch. He emphasizes that this is not "cloud streaming" but a native port of the game.
M0jso shares his progress on social media – music and sound in cutscenes are already working. Saves are still glitchy, and graphics can sometimes break.
Currently, M0jso has not released the source code for the Grand Theft Auto V port to the public. It is still unknown whether the port will reach a full release. At the very least, the modder has proven that, from a technical standpoint, a successful launch of such a game on the original Nintendo console is possible.
According to some players, the project would look good on a more powerful Switch 2. There are concerns that Take-Two's lawyers might shut down the project for copyright infringement.
