Players criticized the authors of The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian for "AI slop" - they released an update fixing some illustrations
Upon release, players had questions for the developers.
In late July, The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian was released. The new narrative role-playing game from Schisma Games was criticized by some users who saw "AI slop" in the game's art — allegedly, the images were created using artificial intelligence.
In the game's Steam community, users drew attention to oddities in the images:
Schisma Games responded to the feedback and released the first update for The Life and Suffering of Prince Jerian. The developers stated that "individual illustrations have been corrected" and addressed the community.
The authors will continue to fix the game and encourage reporting bugs, art issues, and translation problems:
We are not stopping here and continue to improve the game. Despite hundreds of hours of testing, some problems can only be discovered after thousands of people start playing the game on a wide variety of devices and configurations. Our technical support service examines every bug report, tries to help players, and relays information to the development team. Some problems can be fixed quite quickly, as happened in this update, while others are more complex and require more time [...] We would also be grateful for your reports of any inaccuracies in illustrations, text errors, and translation problems.
Some other changes and improvements:
- Linux support has been added: "problems encountered when launching and running the game have been fixed, and compatibility with SteamOS, including Steam Deck, has been improved."
- The installed game's file size has been significantly reduced, and video memory load has been optimized. According to the developers, this will allow for smoother gameplay.
- Changes have been made to the save system, aimed at increasing its stability and reducing the likelihood of rare errors when loading and reverting chapters.
- Various balance adjustments have been made.
- Localization has been fixed.
