GTA creator Dan Houser spoke out about the dispute over physical copies of games: "If people want them, then companies should provide them."

In July, Sony announced that it would soon stop releasing game discs for PlayStation. This announcement sparked a discussion in the gaming community about the importance of physical versions of games. Some companies are already refusing to release disc versions of their games; for example, the Grand Theft Auto VI box only includes a code to download the game.

Recently, in a conversation with IGN, one of the founders of Rockstar Games and the creator of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, who no longer works at the studio, shared his opinion on the matter.

When Dan Houser was asked if he wanted his games released on physical media or if he didn't care, he replied:

I doubt it matters to me, but if people want it, I think companies should provide [game discs]. And I also think that the ability to update games, no matter how much digital releases are criticized, has been very useful for improving game quality – it allows problems to be fixed.

Also during the conversation, Dan Houser shared that Absurd Ventures studio is developing two video games: one a comedic open-world game, and the other "definitely less comedic."
